SO>>>YES FRANCE, IT IS HAPPENING IN AMERICA

April 18, 2006

Dear Kathy,

On Saturday, April 29th in New York City CODEPINK will be hitting the streets as part of a massive mobilization saying YES to peace, justice, democracy, environmental, civil and human rights. It’s time to turn this country around. We have had enough of the occupation of Iraq, the threat of military strikes against Iran, and the diversion of our resources away from the needs of people in this country into never-ending wars. We have had enough of the Bush Administration’s assault on our environment, our civil liberties, and our health and welfare. We are coming together with a broad coalition of activist groups to march, to speak, and to recommit ourselves to our shared values of respect for all people, our planet and our communities (for more information go to http://www.unitedforpeace.org/).

Friday, 28th, 5-7 p.m. WELCOME RECEPTION & PRIVATE VIEWING Join CODEPINK New York at a wine & cheese welcome reception and private viewing of The War in Iraq: Year 4. This is a powerful photo show by four unembedded photojournalists: Kael Alford, Ghaith Abdul-Ahad, Thorne Anderson and Rita Leistner, several of whom will be in attendance at the Photographic Gallery at 252 Front Street in Manhattan’s historic Seaport District. Please r.s.v.p. by April 26 to Gabrielle at sojournert21@yahoo.com.

Directions: Take the 2,3,4,5 or 6 train to Fulton Street. Exit on Fulton and walk east towards the Seaport. Cross Water Street, go one more block and make a left onto Front Street. The gallery is on the last block before the bridge, between Peck Slip and Dover Street.

Saturday, 29 MARCH FOR PEACE, JUSTICE & DEMOCRACY From 10:30 a.m. Gathering of Women’s & Peace Groups in advance of the march on 20th Street between Broadway and Park Avenue South. CODEPINK meet-up is on the northeast corner of Broadway and 20th; we have been told to approach from the east (Park).

12:00 p.m. March down Broadway and then east on Worth Street to Foley Square; followed by Peace Festival from 1-6 p.m. Look for the CODEPINK table in the UFPJ Legislative Tent
